The more I do to follow my passion in the world, the more obstacles try to get in my way. Like many Pagans, I too have been a target of “virtual witch hunts”. I have always been very open about my spirituality and I think it is extremely important to clarify exactly what my beliefs are so people can understand more about my background.
This blog does a pretty good job of explaining the differences between, Wicca, Witchcraft, and Paganism, but it still does not cover my spirituality in full.
I am an eclectic Celtic Pagan. Eclectic means I do not follow one set of beliefs, I pull from many traditions. Celtic is the pantheon my husband and I follow. My ancestry is actually Finnish, but I never identified with Norse traditions. Instead everything fell into place for me when I met my husband who is Welsh-Irish and I adopted his Celtic family traditions as my own. Finally Pagan simply means nature based. I do not believe in any organized religion or religious dogma. I am spiritual, but not religious. For us this is a way of life.
I use the word magick a lot in my descriptions. This is the clearest definition I can find:
Magick: According to the famous occultist Aleister Crowley, magick is “the Science and Art of causing Change to occur in conformity with Will.” … In fact, Crowley… says that “every intentional act is a Magickal Act.” If you follow his line of reasoning, there is a great deal of validity in what he says, although it is not what we are seeking at this time. We need to make the definition of magick a bit longer: Magick is the science and art of causing change (in consciousness) to occur in conformity with will, using means not currently understood by traditional Western science. It is also spelled this way to differentiate the occult from stage/show magic (illusionists).

The way my husband and I explain it is that magick is energy. You can change your life with your intentions; this is magick. This is why my practice involves being positive because your thoughts can and do have an effect on the world.
Now for witchcraft. Witchcraft is simply the practice of magick. By this definition that can be anything from making candles, soap, and herbal salves (which I do), to speaking a spell or calling on guides, gods and goddesses (the equivalent of prayer). Practicing witchcraft in this way does not mean someone is a witch because technically anyone who makes a wish and blows out a candle on a birthday cake is practicing witchcraft! Some definitions out there claim witchcraft is the practice of black or dark magick. This is not true! There is no white or black magick, there is just magick and the intentions of the practitioner using it.
Unfortunately there are those out there who do use their gifts in negative ways, I do not. We all have a shadow side that we must learn from and listen to in order to remain in balance. Just like we must learn from our light side. But if we want to attract positive, we must in turn be positive!
I hope this makes sense to those reading this. Feel free to ask me any questions. Many who follow mainstream religions have never learned about our ways and so they use the term “witch” as a derogatory insult. Those who use the term in this way are also ones who believe Pagans worship Satan when in reality most Pagans do not believe in Satan or any other embodiment of evil!
I believe in practicing tolerance in all forms. I have studied several different religions and even got my degree at a Christian school in order to study and understand Christianity! I am a humanist who believes all people are good and have the ability to live the exact life they want. I am well versed in Psychology and metaphysical practices including aromatherapy, herbs, stones/crystals, energy healing, shamanism, witchcraft, and other indigenous wisdom. I use all of my knowledge to find the way to best help people overcome their obstacles and live a happy, positive lifestyle. The best thing about being a coach and not a therapist is that I follow the lead of my clients, not the other way around. I help people heal themselves using whatever tools they want to try. I can even help people find the right encouragement they need from the bible if they prefer, and I use the KJV bible.
My beliefs and my business are not for me, they are to help others. I strive to be well versed in many different belief systems so that I can offer tools that are in line with different beliefs. In the end it does not matter what your beliefs are; you can live the life you choose by being positive and following your heart.
